Leininger Cabinet & Woodworking, Inc. Marks 75 Years of Craftsmanship, Legacy, and Innovation

[Lexington, Kentucky] — [November 6, 2025] — In 1951, a small woodworking shop opened its doors with one simple promise: to create cabinetry and millwork built to last, crafted with pride, and tailored to each client’s needs. Seventy-five years later, Leininger Cabinet & Woodworking, Inc. (LCW) continues to honor that promise while shaping the future of custom woodworking.

For three-quarters of a century, LCW has been more than a cabinetry company—it has been a trusted partner to homeowners, architects, designers, and commercial and medical related businesses across the region. Known for its attention to detail and uncompromising quality, LCW blends timeless craftsmanship with modern technology to deliver cabinetry and millwork that transform both residential and commercial spaces.

“Reaching 75 years is a milestone that reflects the dedication of generations of skilled craftsmen and the trust of our clients,” said John Leininger, President. “Every project we’ve taken on, from a family’s dream kitchen to large-scale architectural millwork, has been about more than wood—it’s been about creating joy-filled, quality spaces where people live, work, and gather.”

Our Founder

The business was started in 1951 by Robert (Bob) Leininger. He launched the company after graduating from the School for American Craftsmen at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Initially operating out of his father’s basement and later the family garage, Bob (Robert) Leininger built the company into a thriving custom architectural woodworking enterprise that was eventually taken over by his son, John Leininger.

A Tradition of Quality and Service

From its earliest days, the company emphasized integrity, artistry, and service. Today, that commitment is reflected not only in its craftsmanship but also in its adherence to the highest industry standards.

LCW is a proud member of the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI), the national leader in setting benchmarks for woodworking excellence. Membership ensures LCW’s projects meet rigorous AWI Quality Standards, giving clients confidence that every piece is built with precision, durability, and professionalism.

Over the decades, the company has expanded its services, broadened its capabilities, and embraced state-of-the-art technology—all while preserving the artistry and hands-on skill that first set it apart.

Looking Ahead to the Next 75 Years

While LCW celebrates its history, the company is also focused on the future. By investing in sustainable practices (Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) certified), training the next generation of woodworkers, and continuing to innovate in design and fabrication, LCW is positioned to remain a leader in the industry for decades to come.

“We are proud of where we’ve been, but even more excited about where we’re going,” added Leininger. “Our vision is to continue building on our legacy—delivering projects that stand out for their beauty, durability, and craftsmanship.”

As Leininger Cabinet & Woodworking, Inc. celebrates 75 years, the company thanks its clients, employees, and community for being part of its journey—and looks forward to many more decades of excellence.
